Mrs. Shade is beginning her thirteenth year at Bishop Moore, during which time she has taught English at the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior levels.

 

In 1999, Mrs. Shade was one of a select group of Florida teachers awarded a stipend to participate in the Drey Shakespeare Summer Institute at Rollins College.  This was an exclusive, intensive, two-week seminar aimed at developing creativity in the teaching of Shakespeare's works.

 

Over the summer of 2002, Mrs. Shade (then Miss Steele) married BMCHS Religion teacher Mr. Bill Shade.  In May 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Shade welcomed their first child, a baby daughter named Julia.

 

Mrs. Shade's university degree includes a major with University Honors in English Literature, a minor in Psychology, and a second minor in Italian Language and Italian Literature. She lived and studied in Urbino, Italy for three consecutive summers and speaks fluent Italian.

 

Mrs. Shade has produced six award-winning yearbooks, has led workshops on using technology in education, and has been named several times to Who's Who Among America's High School Teachers.

 

 

Mission For The Class

 

Our mission is to prepare students for the behaviors, skills, and responsibilities necessary to succeed in honors and AP classes, and to help improve reading and writing skills.

 

We will need to practice responsibility and resourcefulness, expand our critical thinking and reading skills, improve our existing writing skills and  develop an understanding of and love for literature in its many forms.
