"Lord, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you"

"What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?"                                                                   Micah 6:8

Ms. Alderman received her Masters in Theology from Maryknoll School of Theology (New York) in 1991, and her Masters in Social Work  from Barry University (Miami) in 1983. She served as a Social Worker for eighteen years before answering the call to teach. In her social work experience Ms. Alderman worked with individuals, children and families, including child development, child abuse investigation and prevention, school social work, hospice and home health care in Florida, and work with the homeless in Washington, D.C.  She also served for two years as the Coordinator for Pax Christi Florida, a regional arm of the national and international Catholic peace and justice organization. Ms. Alderman has also for many years served in parish Youth Ministry and Adult Education programs.

Ms. Alderman has traveled extensively in Egypt, Ireland, and in Central and North America. Her education at Maryknoll School of Theology included a summer of teaching at the Coptic Catholic Seminary in Alexandria, Egypt, as well as independent study of  the spiritual, cultural and political experience of women in the Middle East. This study included extensive travel and interviews with Muslim and Christian women of different classes and circumstances. Ms. Alderman also spent four months in Nicaragua living and working with the people as they struggled to rebuild after hurricane Hugo.  Ms. Alderman  also worked as a volunteer under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Miami developing an enrichment program for youth on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation in South Florida.

These multi-cultural experiences as well as a love of children and youth eventually led Ms. Alderman to move toward teaching not only as a career, but as a ministry.  Ms. Alderman is the second of eleven children and credits her mother for fostering her deep faith and love of the Church. Her mother also taught Ms. Alderman and her siblings responsibility toward others, especially the poor,  and fostered Ms. Alderman's interest in and commitment to justice and peace. Ms. Alderman believes strongly in the Catholic Church's Social Justice mission, and strives to live out the call of the Gospel in that context.  Ms. Alderman and her husband Walter Golston live in Apopka where they are active in St. Francis of Assisi parish.
