![]() | Active Learning at Bishop Moore Catholic High School Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Florida is continuing to embrace 21st century learning by opening four, state of the art technology labs this fall. Three of the labs are science classrooms that allow for peer-to-peer collaboration in researching and solving problems posted by the instructor. The labs feature workstations that allow the students to work in teams. Each team controls a large screen monitor via computers at their table. The teacher’s station, at the heart of the room, controls any and all of the machines in the room allowing for “on the fly” peer-to-peer review. The students explore units in biology, chemistry and physics by using state of the art interactive software. The fourth lab is a multi-discipline studio classroom featuring computer access stations that also include a large touchscreen monitor for instant class review, as well as Smart and I-pad technologies. This interactive learning space serves as the premiere learning environment for students to tackle tasks using research internet based information. The students brainstorm, debate and respond to the given assignments. These pedagogies help develop leadership skills and team-building skills while increasing the learning of course material and preparing the students for their lives after high school. | ||||
