He was first team All-State as a junior and Captain of the 1980 state championship team, helping build Hornet soccer's reputation as one of the top program's in the Southeast.

He was selected to the Florida State Team In 1979 and 1980 as one of the top 18 players in Florida.

He was school MVP as a senior.

Luis was captain of the North in the North-South Florida Olympics.

He lists among his most memorable moments the 1978 district championship games, 1979 district championships, the 1980 regional championships (eight overtimes), the 1980 state championship game.

He went on to play four years of Division I soccer at Northeast Louisiana University.

Luis operates his own catering business In South Bend, Indiana.
