As Catholics, the Sacraments are at the heart of our faith community. They are a physical, tangible means instituted by Jesus, by which God's grace enters into our lives. Throughout the year, we offer various opportunities for our students to participate in Mass and attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Mass
The Sacrifice of the Mass is the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith. In other words, the Mass is the most important and sacred form of prayer. At the Mass, we are nourished by the Word and the Eucharist (Jesus fully present in the form of bread and wine). Throughout the school year, students will experience a combination of “All-School Masses” celebrated in the gym, and “Class Masses” celebrated in St. Charles Church. See the school calendar and weekly communications for mass dates.
Daily Mass
Morning Mass is available to students and faculty members on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:10 AM in the St. Joseph Chapel (located in Mary Martha Hall). Students and teachers are invited to attend before the school day starts, and Mass is over in time for students to arrive in 1st period on time.
Confession
Twice a year, during Advent and Lent, the entire student body is offered an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Priests from across the diocese come to hear students’ confessions and offer the sacrament of God’s boundless mercy.
Additionally, every first Wednesday of the month, a priest is present during lunch periods to offer the sacrament. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most unique and beautiful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus Christ, in His abundant love and mercy, established the Sacrament of Confession, so that we as sinners can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God and the Church. The sacrament “washes us clean,” and renews us in Christ.
If you would like to schedule an appointment for confession, send a message to JP Kuhlman (kuhlmanj@bishopmoore.org) and he can help coordinate with one of our priests.
1st Friday Adoration
Our St. Joseph Chapel is open throughout the school day for any students or teachers who would like to make a visit and pray before the Blessed Sacrament. On the 1st Friday of every month, we hold “1st Friday Adoration,” where the Eucharist is exposed on the altar throughout the day for prayer and adoration. Each month, a sign up sheet is shared in which students and teachers can sign up for a specific time slot to pray before Jesus in the Eucharist.
To sign for a 1st Friday Adoration slot, reach out to Sr. Kristi Bergman (bergmank@bishopmoore.org)
Worship Wednesday
One Wednesday each month, we host “Worship Wednesday” at 2:30 pm in the St. Joseph Chapel. At Worship Wednesday, a group of students lead praise and worship music while the Eucharist is exposed on the altar. All are invited to attend!
