ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
Program Success
In March 2023, our Black & Gold Brigade had the incredible opportunity to travel to Ireland, where we showcased our talent and spirit on an international stage. Building on that momentum, we embarked on an exciting journey in March 2024, participating in "3 Parades in 3 States in 4 Days." This whirlwind tour took us through the vibrant cities of St. Augustine, FL, Savannah, GA, and Hilton Head, SC, allowing us to connect with communities and celebrate our shared passion for performance. Both experiences have been monumental in enhancing our team's camaraderie and visibility.

Barker’s influence extends to St. James, Good Shepherd, and Holy Redeemer, where he served for two years. His bands have achieved notable success, securing FMBC Regional Championships in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2023, and earning a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association. His former students have gone on to perform in prestigious bands at institutions such as Notre Dame, FSU, UF, UCF, USF, Auburn, Alabama, UNC, and Appalachian State, among others. Outside of his educational role, Barker performs with a rock band on weekends and plays for his church on Sundays.
Facilities
Band Room
The Band Building, Home of the Black & Gold Brigade, was built concurrently with The Moore Center. Bishop Noonan came through and blessed our building on the same day that he blessed the Moore Center.
Memorial Stadium and Harry Nelson Field
Memorial Stadium, home to Harry Nelson Field, was built in 1982 and honors the legacy of Harry Nelson, a significant figure in our community. In 2013, the stadium saw the installation of an artificial turf field, enhancing the playing surface for athletes. A new track was added in 2022, further elevating the facility's capabilities. Most recently, a state-of-the-art video board was installed in 2024, providing an immersive experience for fans and players alike.
Practice Field
The on-campus Practice Field, located behind Harry Nelson Stadium and accessible from both the boys' and girls' locker rooms, provides an 80-yard by 50-yard natural grass field for team training and practice sessions. This versatile space is designed to accommodate a wide range of athletic activities and ensures that athletes have access to a high-quality, dedicated area for preparation.
