Our teams have demonstrated exceptional performance in recent years, highlighted by the Girls' 2A District Championship titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023, along with being the 2A Regional Runner-Up in 2022 and 2023. The Boys' team also secured the 2A District Championship in 2021. Additionally, both the Boys and Girls teams qualified for the state competition from 2019 to 2022, showcasing a strong commitment to excellence and competitiveness.
Lisa Watson, an accomplished coach with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Anatomy and Physiology from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Human Pathology from the University of Maryland, has been the head coach at BMC for nine years. With a total of twelve years coaching experience, Watson has led her teams to remarkable successes, including Boys and Girls 2A District and Regional Cross Country Championships, multiple top ten finishes at the 2A State Cross Country Championships for girls, and several top 20 finishes for boys. Her teams have also secured Boys and Girls Citrus League Championships and numerous individual District Championships. Under her leadership, several athletes have set new school records and achieved significant accolades: Liam Griffiths with new records in the 800m and 5000m, Paige McCaul with records in the 3200m and 5000m, and multiple state championship placements for Samantha Lorey and Taylor Moler. Many of her graduates have continued their running careers at colleges such as Marist College, Auburn, the University of San Francisco, Seton Hall University, Mount St. Mary’s, Lafayette, and Daytona State. Outside of coaching, Watson is a local artist and enjoys cooking Japanese food.
Facilities
Memorial Stadium and Harry Nelson Field
Memorial Stadium, home to Harry Nelson Field, was built in 1982 and honors the legacy of Harry Nelson, a significant figure in our community. In 2013, the stadium saw the installation of an artificial turf field, enhancing the playing surface for athletes. A new track was added in 2022, further elevating the facility's capabilities. Most recently, a state-of-the-art video board was installed in 2024, providing an immersive experience for fans and players alike.
Moore Center Weight Room
State of the art weight room on the first floor of the Moore Center overlooking the Memorial Stadium. Home to our Girls and Boys Weightlifting teams as well as our Athletic Department Sport Performance.
Moore Center Locker rooms
The Locker Rooms in the Moore Center, located on the upper level and directly connected to the Newsome Family Tunnel, offer spacious and well-appointed facilities for both male and female athletes. The locker room features large mirrors, sinks, walk-in individual showers, toilets, and TVs, ensuring convenience and comfort. These modern amenities support athletes in their pre- and post-game routines, providing a professional environment for team preparation.
Practice Field
The on-campus Practice Field, located behind Harry Nelson Stadium and accessible from both the boys' and girls' locker rooms, provides an 80-yard by 50-yard natural grass field for team training and practice sessions. This versatile space is designed to accommodate a wide range of athletic activities and ensures that athletes have access to a high-quality, dedicated area for preparation.
