Program Success
Our program has achieved back-to-back district playoff game victories, demonstrating our competitive strength. Additionally, we have five current and former players actively coaching CYS teams or assisting with BMC, showcasing our commitment to developing leadership within the sport. As the NCAA moves towards recognizing more colleges as competitive programs, we are excited about the potential growth and opportunities at the next level.
Michael Gerhart, a Hall of Fame inductee from Susquehanna University (DIII), where he played football and baseball, holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications/Public Relations. He has been the Head Coach for Flag Football for 4 years and has an impressive coaching background, including a decade on Matt Hedrick's staff as the JV head coach and varsity assistant for defensive backs, and 6 years as a varsity assistant baseball coach on Coach Mehlich's staff, focusing on outfielders and hitting. Michael has also managed men's teams in the Winter Park league for over 10 years and coached for 4 years with CYS at St. Mary Magdalene and St. James. In total, his coaching experience spans 24 years, including his time with the boys' team at BMC. At BMC, he has been instrumental in building a new program, which, despite a challenging COVID-affected first season, has achieved success by winning its first-round District playoff game and reaching the semifinals of the District tournament in consecutive years. Notably, his first quarterback, Rylee McDaid, now serves as the President and starting quarterback for the UCF Flag Football Club. Outside of coaching, Michael's daughter, a BMC graduate from the class of 2018, is a weekday morning anchor at WTVY in Dothan, AL, and his wife and he own a Merle Norman Cosmetics store in Altamonte Springs. Additionally, Michael has founded Gameday Sports, LLC, a Flag Football business that is rapidly growing in Florida's booming market.
