2026-2027 Attendance Updates
Bishop Moore Catholic Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential to student success and reflects the responsibility, accountability and commitment are expected of all Bishop Moore Catholic students.
Students are expected to attend school each day and arrive on time, prepared to fully participate in the educational experience.
This school year, Bishop Moore Catholic will place an increased emphasis on monitoring and tracking unexcused absences. Parents and guardians are encouraged to provide appropriate documentation for all student absences in a timely manner to ensure absences are reviewed for excusal.
Excused Absences
Absences will be considered excused only for the following reasons:
- Illness or injury
- Death in the immediate family
- Religious observance (Sacraments)
- Documented medical or dental appointment
- Court appointment or legal requirement
- Approved college visit
Documentation may be required to verify the reason for the absence. Failure to provide appropriate documentation may result in the absence being recorded as unexcused.
Pre-Arranged Absences
If a student knows in advance that they will be absent from school, the parent or guardian must complete and submit the Request for Pre-Arranged Absence Form prior to the absence. Submitting this form allows the school to properly document the absence and communicate with teachers regarding missed coursework. Approval of a pre-arranged absence does not automatically guarantee that the absence will be excused unless it meets one of the approved excused absence criteria.
Unexcused Absences
Students are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance throughout the school year.
A pattern of unexcused absences may negatively impact a student's academic progress and standing.
Any student who accumulates ten (10+) unexcused absences within a semester will be required to:
- Meet with the Student Services Department.
- Enter into an Attendance Contract, which must be reviewed and signed by both
the student and a parent or guardian. This may result in an Enrollment Hold until
attendance expectations have been addressed and the required meeting has
taken place.
Our goal is to partner with families to promote consistent attendance and ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve academic success while fully participating in the life of the Bishop Moore Catholic community.
Please make all attendance inquiries to studentservices@bishopmoore.org.
