Federal Aid
The U.S. Government offers over $100 billion annually to families to assist with the costs of college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application that is required to qualify for federal financial aid assistance. Federal Financial Aid consists of Grants, Work Study, and Student Loans. In order to complete the FAFSA the student and one parent must first create an account called an FSA ID. The FAFSA opens in October of a student’s senior year and it is recommended to apply early. Even if there is only a remote possibility that your family would qualify for federal need-based aid, completing the FAFSA may be a requirement for qualifying for institutional-based aid and for other college scholarships. Click below to receive more information on creating an FSA ID and completing the FAFSA form. These are free resources. Do not pay for access to federal aid or any scholarships.
